    How does a heat pump work?

    A heat pump operates on a reversed refrigeration cycle. It extracts heat from the environment (air, ground, or water) and uses a compressor to raise its temperature to the level required by the heating system. For every 1 kWh of electricity, a heat pump produces 3-5 kWh of heat — this ratio is called the COP (Coefficient of Performance).

  1. Summer — PV produces surplus energy, heat pump runs at low load (domestic hot water). Surplus goes to grid or battery
  2. Winter — heat pump works intensively, PV produces less. But a wind turbine (if present) compensates for winter PV decline
